The Learning and Teaching Spaces Managers Group (LTSMG), established in the late 1990s, has grown into a pivotal community at the crossroads of technology and higher education in the UK. Under the leadership of Adam Harvey, Aaron Turlington-Smith, Matt North, and David Amann, LTSMG has expanded to include over 400 members dedicated to enhancing technology in higher education and improving the student learning experience. This group focuses on fostering collaboration and sharing knowledge among technology managers and industry manufacturers, creating a productive environment for exchanging innovative ideas.
Each year, LTSMG hosts a significant conference, rotating between different host universities, featuring a diverse range of presentations, keynotes, and panel discussions alongside a manufacturer’s exhibition where new products are showcased. The 2023 conference, held at Loughborough University, was the largest to date, attracting over 90 technology managers from 60 universities and featuring over 50 manufacturers. Discussions at the conference covered topics such as Microsoft Teams Rooms, user experience, AV performance standards, and equality, diversity, and inclusivity. The event also delved into the applications of augmented and virtual reality in higher education, demonstrating LTSMG’s commitment to driving forward technological innovation in academic settings.
